AUBURN, AL (WTVM)- Auburn University will hold its 2012 Empty Bowls Banquet
Tuesday, Oct. 16, at 7 p.m. in the Alabama Farmers Pavilion, at 620-A S.
Donahue Drive at Ag Heritage Park.

The Empty Bowls banquet is meant to increase hunger
awareness among students, faculty, staff and the local community.

It will feature a simple meal of bread and soup served in
ceramic bowls, handmade by Department of Art faculty and students. Each person
attending will take home a bowl as a reminder of all those around the world
whose bowls are empty.

The banquet, co-sponsored by the Committee of 19 and Art in
Ag, also will include live music by a local folk band, a short film on hunger
and comments from Martha Henk, Food Bank of East Alabama director.

Tickets are now available and are $10 for students and $20
for all others, with all proceeds, as well as any additional donations, going
to the East Alabama Food Bank via the Beat Bama Food Drive. Tickets can be
purchased in 210 Spidle Hall, 315 Tichenor Hall, or 3 Comer Hall.
