Automotive supplier bringing jobs to Auburn

AUBURN, AL - Governor Robert Bentley and automotive supplier RAPA (Rausch & Pausch LP) announced the company’s plans to locate a U.S. headquarters and production facility in Auburn.

Company officials anticipate creating 105 new jobs in Auburn over the next five years with $18 million in planned capital investment.  Construction of the facility in Auburn Technology Park West is already underway, with production scheduled to start in fall of 2013.

Tools for Tigers helping graduates find a job

AUBURN, AL - Tools for Tigers, an event designed to help young alumni with all aspects of their job search, will take place Dec. 13 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Auburn University Alumni Center. It is hosted by the Auburn University Career Center and the Office of Alumni Affairs.

 

The event will inform job-seekers about personal branding, networking, job searching, interviewing, business etiquette and resume and cover letter writing. Participants will also have the opportunity to take personality and strengths assessments to enhance their self-awareness and ability to communicate skills and abilities in a resume, cover letter or interview.

Department of Labor hosting Job Expo in Columbus

COLUMBUS, GA - The Georgia Department of Labor’s Columbus Career Center and the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) will co-sponsor a job expo for employers, veterans, wounded soldiers, personnel recently separated from active duty, and other job seekers. It will be held Wednesday and Thursday, Sept. 28-29, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at VFW Post 665, located at 1824 Victory Dr. in Columbus.

MONTGOMERY- Alabama Department of Industrial Relations Director Tom Surtees announced today that Alabama’s June 2011 unemployment rate rose to 9.9%, up from May’s rate of 9.6% and the 9.3% recorded a year ago.

June’s rate represents 213,975 unemployed persons, compared to 206,578 last month and 197,780 in June 2010.

“While we are disappointed to report any increase in our seasonally adjusted unemployment rate, we keep in mind the contributing factors that led us here,” said Surtees

Over 750 job openings at fair this week

AUBURN, AL - This week, the Goodwill Career Center is offering two promising opportunities for community members looking for work. The center will be hosting job fairs for Tiger Dining by Chartwells and Event Operations Group, who are collectively hiring for over 725 confirmed openings.

“These job fairs are an excellent opportunity for qualified community members and students to put their best foot forward with employers actively seeking applicants,” explains Ted Bryant, Goodwill Career Center Manager.
