Auburn student arrested in string of book bag thefts | Crime
AUBURN, AL - Auburn Police arrested a student with stolen property taken from other students at the campus library.
Frank Porter V, age 19, is charged with two counts of second degree theft of property. He was taken into custody on Feb. 14.Two students had reported items stolen from their book bags at the Ralph B. Draughon Library on campus. The students told police that the book bags that were stolen had laptop computers and other items in them.
Officers, based on a suspect description provided, contacted Porter in the immediate area and took him into custody.
The stolen property belonging to the two victims was recovered.
Porter, an Auburn University student himself, was in possession of additional property believed to be stolen.
The investigation is ongoing and more charges are possible if and when other victims are identified.
Porter was transported to the Lee County Detention Center where his bond was set at $6,000.
