Auburn man walks up on someone breaking in to his car | Crime
AUBURN, AL - An Auburn man saw someone breaking into his car and helped police catch the man Wednesday afternoon.
Officers responded to the 900 block of Opelika Rd. in reference to an auto burglary in progress around 3:40 p.m.
The victim said he saw someone inside his vehicle which was parked in the lot of a local business.
When he approached his car the suspect ran from the scene.
A few minutes later an officer saw a person matching the description of the suspect.
The man took off when officers tried to contact him.
After police chased the man down on foot, he was taken into custody and identified as Samtorio J. Barnett, age 25.
A digital music player stolen from the victim’s vehicle was recovered from a dumpster in the area.
Barnett was transported to the Lee County Detention Center where his bond was set at $4,000.
