Cautious neighbor helps capture burglary suspects

AUBURN, AL - A watchful neighbor noticed a suspicious vehicle in their neighborhood, leading to the arrest of two suspects in a string of burglaries.

Auburn Police say that an alert citizen reported a vehicle behaving strangely on Friday, Oct. 26. When officers responded to the area, they stopped the vehicle in the 2000 block of Wire Rd.

They found property that was reported stolen earlier in the day from several homes inside the vehicle.

The two men in the car, Bernard Pierson, 36, and Desi Drisker, 20, were both arrested and charged with two counts of third degree burglary, second and third degree theft of property, and possession of burglar's tools.

Officers also learned that Pierson was wanted on four outstanding warrants on unrelated charges through the Lee County Sheriff’s Office.

Police had been on the lookout for a white sport utility vehicle similar to the 1998 Lincoln Navigator the pair was driving.

Other citizens, witnesses and victims had reported seeing a similar vehicle in their neighborhood after recent residential burglaries.

Pierson and Drisker were transported to the Lee County Detention Center where their bond was set at $10,000 each.

The investigation continues and other charges are likely.
