Automotive supplier bringing jobs to Auburn

AUBURN, AL - Governor Robert Bentley and automotive supplier RAPA (Rausch & Pausch LP) announced the company’s plans to locate a U.S. headquarters and production facility in Auburn.

Company officials anticipate creating 105 new jobs in Auburn over the next five years with $18 million in planned capital investment. Construction of the facility in Auburn Technology Park West is already underway, with production scheduled to start in fall of 2013.

AUBURN, AL - German-based Borbet Group, a leading European manufacturer of light metal alloy wheels for the automobile industry, recently announced the appointment of Ulf M. Kranz as its new President and CEO. Borbet will also hire a new Chief Operating Officer, Dieter Schmidt.

OPELIKA, AL - The Southeast's largest wholesale jewelry dealer is opening a new location in Opelika.

Southern Bullion Coin & Jewelry has announced the opening of its newest store located at 3909 Pepperell Parkway, Suite E in the Executive Square shopping center in Opelika. The store buys and sells gold, silver, and platinum jewelry; rare and silver coins, investment bullion; diamonds, pre-owned Rolex watches, and sterling flatware.

Businesses kicking off Auburn Fashion Week

AUBURN, AL - Auburn Fashion Week is kicking off its inaugural season beginning March 1.

AFW is a collaborative effort that was the brainchild of Beth Witten, owner of The Blue Shoe of Auburn. AFW evolved out of a desire to highlight area boutiques and local designers who are bringing fashion to Auburn and Opelika.

The Hotel at Auburn University hosting New Year's Party

AUBURN, AL - Say goodbye to 2011 and hello to 2012 in style with an evening at The Hotel at Auburn University that includes an exceptional chef-prepared dinner, live music and a special New Year’s Eve overnight package.

Guests may choose to attend all events or one. The evening will begin with a five-course dinner in Ariccia. Reservations for dinner begin as early as 5:30 p.m. to allow plenty of time to dine before midnight. The price of dinner is $75 per person and includes a champagne toast at midnight in Piccolo.

AORTA sponsoring a shoe drive for those in need

AUBURN, AL - AORTA (Auburn Opelika Running and Track Association) is helping those in need with a shoe drive to benefit Soles4Souls® Inc, the shoe charity, at the Toys for Tots Race on December 3, 2011.

Soles4Souls Inc. has committed to collect and distribute shoes to people living in extreme poverty and recovering from natural disasters. The shoe charity provides one pair of shoes to a person in need every 7 seconds. Since 2005, Soles4Souls has distributed more than 16 million pairs of shoes because of the generosity and commitment of people and organizations like AORTA.
