Auburn High School student arrested in prank, more arrests possible

AUBURN, AL (WTVM)- Auburn police say a senior prank at Auburn High School involving dead fish has landed several students in trouble. The incident happened just before midnight on Tuesday.  Auburn police have already arrested one 18-year-old Auburn High School senior in the prank and more arrests are possible.

Superintendent Terry Jenkins tells WTVM, the group littered the outside of the school with a lot of dead fish.  He says the group broke into the band room as well, Jenkins believes they tried to scatter fish in the room.

Student arrested while attempting senior prank with dead fish

AUBURN, AL (WTVM)- A senior prank may have also hit Auburn High School. An 18-year-old student was arrested overnight after police responded to a possible burglary in progress.

Detectives believe he was accompanied by several other students.  Reports indicate they were involved in a prank that included placing dead fish on the school grounds.    

Auburn police seek person for questioning in fraud case

The Auburn Police Department is asking residents' help to find a person wanted for questioning.

Authorities sent News Leader the pictures, which they say could be the same person or different people, who they want to question about the fraudulent use of a debit card at several area businesses.

Police note that the photos may also be those of a male or female. 

Anyone with information about the case is asked to call Auburn police or even leave an anonymous voice or text message at 334-246-1391.

Mr. Penny expected to return home from hospital next week

AUBURN, AL (WTVM)- A spokesperson for East Alabama Medical Center says Johnny Richmond, known to many as Mr. Penny, is scheduled to return to his home sometime next week.

Richmond is breathing on his own and talking a little bit. He has been hospitalized since February, when police say he was injured by a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.

Mr. Penny was a crossing guard at Dean Road Elementary. He was also described as the biggest Auburn University football fan, where he did pushups in the student section to rally the team.

AUBURN, AL (WTVM)- If you're looking for a job, start looking in Auburn. Over the past two years, Auburn has added nearly 1,400 new jobs, and they're at it again.

Switzerland-based company Weidmann International Corporation opened the doors of its plastics plant in Auburn 9 years ago. Since then, they have been expanding and adding jobs in east Alabama.

Auburn police: Teen severs hand with a chainsaw

AUBURN, AL (WTVM)- An east Alabama teen is being treated in Birmingham after apparently cutting off his hand with a chainsaw.

Auburn police responded to a home Tuesday and found 19-year-old Nicholas Jones with his right hand severed.

A spokesperson at UAB Hospital confirmed Jones was a patient there, but would not reveal his medical status.
